Learning outcomes

  1. Understand and recount the key events and milestones in the history of industrial relations in Australia, appreciating the evolution of workers' rights and employer responsibilities.
  2. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the major employment laws and legislation in Australia, including the Fair Work Act 2009, and be able to interpret their implications for both employers and employees.
  3. Identify and differentiate between the requirements for a valid employment contract, express and implied terms, and understand the relationship between employment contracts and other legal instruments.
  4. Recognise the significance of awards and workplace agreements, including their status under the Fair Work Act 2009, and understand the intricacies of the enterprise bargaining process.
  5. Understand the importance and application of compliance policies and procedures in the workplace and identify how they can minimise liability for employers.
  6. Understand the various methods by which an employment contract can be terminated, the provisions in university enterprise agreements, and distinguish between the unfair dismissal and general protections jurisdictions of the Fair Work Act 2009.
  7. Apply knowledge of workplace relations to real-life case studies, demonstrating an understanding of how laws and principles are applied in practical situations.
  8. Evaluate the compliance of workplace practices and policies with Australian employment legislation, identifying areas of strength and potential improvement.

If you can't remember your password, add your email address to the login, then click 'Reset Password'. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.
  2. Your member details will be automatically populated in your registration - you can check them here before proceeding. If you would like changes made, contact us. You can proceed with this booking in the meantime and any updates to your details will be automatically applied.
  3. When you are ready to book, select 1 ticket from the dropdown menu on the right, then click ‘Register Now’. Ticket price excludes GST, which will be added on the next screen where you can click ‘Confirm’. You will be redirected to a payment page where you can either download an invoice to send to your accounts department or pay immediately via credit card. A confirmation will be sent to your registered email address.
